Museum Experience Guide
The Children’s Museum of New Hampshire (CMNH) seeks a part-time Museum Experience Guide. The Experience Guide is an integral part of our front-of-house team and is a responsible, creative and outgoing individual. They have experience and interest in working with children and have excellent customer service skills. The Experience Guide assists our visitors as they explore our hands on exhibits. They are responsible for providing the highest level of customer service and engagement for visitors. Experience Guides collaborate with other staff members to facilitate meaningful visitor experiences. Successful Experience Guides perform their duties with enthusiasm, imagination, and a passion for helping families create life-long memories.
Primary Role and Responsibilities
Promote memorable play experiences by directly engaging with children and families to maximize their learning and enjoyment in the museum.
Maintain a clean and safe environment.
Staff daily assigned activities in exhibit spaces.
Prep materials for exhibits, activities, programs and events as well as support educators during scheduled programs and events.
Provide assistance to visitors by answering general questions concerning museum offerings, exhibits and scheduled programs.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma
Early childhood and/or elementary program/camp counseling experience a plus
Background in one or more of the following areas encouraged: movement, music, storytelling, visual arts, health, STEAM, ropes/challenge course elements and team building
Skills:
Ability to interact positively with children, adults, and large groups
Ability to engage with a diverse group of staff and visitors
Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations
Ability and desire to learn new tasks quickly and to perform repetitive tasks with high degree of care and accuracy
Ability and desire to contribute ideas and promote a memorable visitor experience
Excellent communication skills
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Able to command attention of children and adults and lead activities in group settings
Able to follow through on tasks and to seek assistance from appropriate staff members
Able to multi-task and to remain calm and courteous under pressure
Demonstrates a team approach and is flexible; can adjust to different roles
Essential Physical Skills:
Ability to work one weekend day
Ability to communicate both orally and in writing
Ability to sit at a desk and view display screen for extended periods of time
Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer
Light lifting and carrying (up to 20 pounds), walking, standing and sitting
Occasional bending, kneeling, and reaching
Acceptable eyesight and hearing (with or without correction aids)

Visitor Services Associate
The Children’s Museum of New Hampshire (CMNH) seeks a part-time Visitor Services Associate. As the first contact with Museum visitors, VSAs play a vital role in providing a quality visitor experience. Successful candidates must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment as they perform a variety of duties including welcoming and orienting all visitors, selling general admission tickets and Museum memberships, and answering visitor questions. Successful VSAs are welcoming, engaging and enjoy providing exceptional customer service.
Visitor Services Associates serve as a frontline ambassador for CMNH in a multi-functional role. They are directly responsible for setting the tone of every museum visit by welcoming families to the museum. VSAs provide orientations to visitors and answer questions about the museum, our memberships, programs, and events.
VSAs are also responsible for all front desk transactions: admissions, memberships, field trip visits, and shop sales. They are required to open and close the register, and use Altru POS system to process sales. VSAs also monitor the Museum entrance and Play Patio via a monitor at the front desk.
Additionally, VSAs serve as the first point of contact for any additional visitors to the Museum: taking deliveries, directing vendors and meeting participants. They support the general operations and activities of the Museum in other duties as assigned and are a crucial member of the Museum team.
And finally, VSAs assist with the evaluation and survey projects of the museum, interacting with visitors and families as they enter and exit the museum to assess the quality of their experience.
This is a part-time, hourly position, approximately 8 hours per week, with the potential for additional hours. We are looking for a candidate who would be available to start immediately.
Minimum Qualifications:
Excellent customer service skills, with a minimum 1 year experience working in customer service, sales, and/or hospitality
Knowledge of Point of Sales systems; knowledge of Blackbaud’s Altru a plus
Minimum of 1 year of experience in cash handling and credit card transactions
Excellent communications skills, with an ability to engage with both adult caregivers and children
Must be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Must possess high standards, a positive attitude, be detail oriented, and work well both with others and independently
Must possess a passion for the mission and work of the Children’s Museum of New Hampshire

Responsibilities and Duties:
Serving as the first ambassador to the museum – setting a playful & positive tone for every visit, welcoming families with warmth and excitement, sharing information about the museum in an efficient but enthusiastic way.
Processing all transactions on the museum’s POS and register system – handling ticketing, selling memberships, processing group visits.
Maintaining accurate daily sales records – opening & closing the registers each day, managing end-of-day cash out.
Fostering relationships with museum members – operating Altru database, greet families by name, learning about repeat visitors to create a personalized museum experience.
Sharing information and orienting new visitors to the new museum – wayfinding exhibits, daily roster of programs (what they are and where they will be), and upcoming events (what they are and when they will be). Give directions in a clear and concise manner.
Assisting with pricing, restocking and tidying Museum gift shop
Serve as front desk reception for the administrative offices – welcoming visitors and meeting attendees, signing for packages and notifying staff when things arrive, directing the general public to other attractions and area restaurants.
